What is a fire starter?
A fire starter is simply anything that burns for a long enough period of time to ignite other combustible fire materials (paper, kindling, small logs).

The fragrant odor of pine, the quick work it makes of getting a wood fire started, the colored flames produced by specialty starters. It's just a great way to get a fire going!
How long will a fire starter burn?
Depending on its size, a pine cone fire starter can burn on average anywhere from 10 to 20 minutes.
How do I light a fire starter?
Simply touch a lit match to any of the "scales" on the pine cone (just make certain the pine cone fire starter is nestled within other wood pieces so it can easily ignite them as it burns).
Are fire starters safe?
Naturally, anything that involves fire should be handled with the utmost care. And most importantly, be kept out of reach of small children and pets. But, yes, just like any other wax product (such as candles) fire starters are completely safe.
Can I use fire starters in my fireplace indoors?
Yes, you can use pine cone fire starters in fireplaces both indoors and out.
Will fire starters create wax buildup in my fireplace?
No. The small amount of wax that is used for each fire starter will burn away along with the pine cone. (In general, fire starters produce a miniscule amount of residue compared to the overall wood you burn.)
